Ulavi Channabasaveshwara

Ulavi is a famous pilgrimage center for Veerashaivas located in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka state. This place is surrounded by thick forest.

The Samadhi of Channabasavanna, one of the most revered saints of the Lingayat faith is main attraction of this place.

In the 12th century, Channabasavanna, who associated with Veerashaiva religious movement; traveled from Kalyana to Ulavi before he died. Very close to this holy Samadhi is the Akka Nagalambike cave named after Nagalambike, Channabasavanna's mother and Basavanna's sister.

The Ulavi Jathre or congregations attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over Karnataka as one of the major community or `panchamsali linjayaths' are large number devoted here visiting regularly.
