Ninasam at Heggodu

Heggodu is a small village is located at a distance of 8 Km from in Sagar town of Shimoga district, Heggodu is surrounded by rich green and areca nut plantations.
Heggodu is popular because it houses a famous cultural organization called Ninasam or NeeNaSam (an acronym for Neelakantheshwara Natyaseva Samgha) which is the brain child of the renowned dramatist, K V Subbanna. Subbanna started the Ninasam Foundation in 1991.

From the humble thatched hut in Heggodu village that served as a gathering spot for a group of cultural fans in 1949, it has slowly developed into a multi-faceted organization functioning towards expertise in theatre and related arts.

Ninasam is an cultural organization dedicated to the growth of drama, films and publishing. Ninasam at Heggodu is currently headed by K V Akshara, son of Subbanna.

Ninasam houses the Shivarama Karantha Rangamandira, a well-equipped auditorium.
