Kundapura
Kundapura is a coastal town and taluk headquarters located at a distance of 38 Km from Udupi in Karnataka.
The name Kundapura originates from an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Kundeshwara located in the town which was built by Kundavarama, the Alupa ruler. Kundapura is also described as the town of the sun.
The uniqueness of Kundapura town is that the town is surrounded by water from three sides. Towards the north lies the Panchagangavali River. Towards the east lies the Kalaghar River. Towards the west lie the Kodi back waters and the Arabian Sea, south side is the only side as the main connecting land mass.
Since Kundapura is a coastal town, the main attractions of this town are spectacular beaches. Apart from beaches Kundapura (the city as well as the taluk) houses the world famous temples. Kollur Mookambika Temple, Hattiangadi Siddhi Vinayaka Temple, Anegudde Vinayaka Temple are few popular temples located in Kundapura Taluk.

Sri Kundeshwara Temple: Sri Kundeshwara Temple is the main attractions of Kundapura Town. The temple has built by Kundavarma. The temple lies in the vicinity of the Panchagangavali River. Kundeshwara Deepotsava, an annual festival of Lights celebrated in Hindu Karthika month attracts huge number of devotees.
Pete Venkateshwara Temple: Apart from Kundeshwara Temple, Kundapura also house a temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara called Pete Venkateshwara Temple.
Basrur: Basrur is located at a distance of 5 Km from Kundapura. Basrur houses many historical structures and temples. The main attraction of Basrur is Shree Mahatobar Mahalingeshwara Temple is of historical importance. Basrur is also spiritual centre for Goud Saraswat Brahmin community and Sri Mahalasa Narayani temple is also located in Basrur.
Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Temple: Anegudde is located at a distance of 5 Km from Kundapura. Anegudde is famous for Sri Vinayaka Temple. This is very old temple. The place gets its name as Anegudde because Lord Ganapathi is located on a small hillock.
Uppinakudru: Uppinakudru was once popular for trading of Salt and Sea food.
Kodi Beach: Kodi beach is a wonderful beach located at a distance of 4 Km from Kundapura. The Kinara Restaurant is a beautiful place to spend the time, while enjoying the beauty of the Arabian Sea.
