Koppa

Koppa is a small town and prominent taluk headquarters in Chikmagalur district, Karnataka state.
Koppa is situated 763 meters above sea level.

The scenery where Koppa is located is attractive to nature-lovers. It is covered by Sahayadri mountain range. Koppa is also regarded as 'Kashmir of Karnataka' because of its climate. The temperature will be very less even during summer. This results its environment favorable for growing coffee, tea, paddy etc. Meruthi, small hill near Basrikatte is a hill station.

There are many temples in Koppa taluk, Shivapanchayat Temple in Hedase, Shiva temple in Uttameshwara, Janardhana Swamy temple in Basrikatte, Kamandala Ganapathi temple near Kesave and Tripurantaki Temple near Bomlapura are few of them.

Hariharapura: The main attraction of Hariharapura is Adi Shankaracharya Sharada Lakshmi Narasimha Peeta or Sharadamba Mutt located at Hariharapura. This mutt is dedicated to Goddess Sharadamba on the banks or river Tunga.

Shakatapuram: Shakatapuram is also known by name Bandigadi. A Mutt by name Shri Vidya Peetam is located on the banks of River Tunga.

Koppa is also famous for the educational institutes. ALN Ayurvedic College is prominent Ayurvedic College located at Koppa. There are other colleges and schools where more than 20,000 students are getting education at various levels.
