Guru Dattatreya Bababudanswamy's Darga or Dattapeeta
Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudanswamy's Darga (also called as Dattapeeta) located on the Bababudan hills in Chikmagalur.
It is an antique and main institution held in great respect by Hindus as well as Muslims and Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudanswamy's Darga is resorted to by huge numbers of Pilgrims from different locations of India.
A late rite cave here is believed to have been sanctified by the residence of Guru Dattatreya and Hazarat Dada Hayath Mir Khalandar and other saints. This is really a respected place of pilgrimage.
The worship of this Peeta is performed by an unmarried Man or Fakir. A number of Hindu and Muslims rulers are stated to have aided this institution with liberal grants.
An annual 'Fair or Urs' and that is held under the auspicious of the peeta for three days following the Holi Festival in accordance with Hindu Calender is attended by both Hindus and Muslims.
