KumtaKumta is a coastal town located on Arabian Sea coast and taluk headquarters in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state. Kumta is known for its betelnut, cashew, coconut, banana cultivation and fisheries. Just to the north of Kumta town, the river Aghanashini joins the Arabian Sea on her way rendering eye-catching scenery. A nearby spot called Yana is also beautiful with its massive black rock formations and nature trails. The temple town of Gokarna, near Kumta is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus and is known as Dakshin Kashi or the Kashi of the South. There are a lot of ancient temples in Kumta.
