Amruthapura
Amruthapura is a town located at a distance of 67 km north of Chikmagalur town in Chikmagalur District. Situated in the close vicinity of the Bhadra River reservoir, a short distance from Tarikere town, this is an pleasant place. The main attraction of Amruthapura is the impressive Amrutheshvara temple. The temple was built in 1196 by Amrutheswara Dandanayaka under Hoysala King Veera Ballala II
The Amrutheshvara temple is a best example of Hoysala architecture built with a wide open hall which is called as mantapa. The Sukanasi of this temple has the original Hoysala emblem of Sala fighting the tiger. The specialties of the temple are the rows of shining lathe turned pillars that support the ceiling of the mantapa.
There is also a Saligrama Shivalinga, which is brought it from River Kandikevale which is in Nepal.
